Privacy Policy
1. Who we are
Saledar (the "Service," "we," "us") is operated by Bristol-Jones Group, LLC, a Tennessee limited liability company based in Nashville, TN. This policy describes how we collect, use, share, and protect personal information when you visit saledar.com or use any related feature.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us directly
- Email address. Collected when you sign in, post a sale, subscribe to alerts, opt into the blog, or report a bug.
- ZIP code, optional state, optional display name. Collected from subscribers (for alert matching) and account holders (for local ranking).
- Sale listing details. If you post a sale: title, description, street address, city, state, ZIP, start/end times, accepted payment methods, your name, your contact email, and an optional contact phone number. The address is shown publicly so buyers can find your sale.
- Ratings, flags, and bug reports. Anything you voluntarily submit through review, flag, or feedback forms.
Information we derive
- Approximate latitude/longitude. Computed from your ZIP via a free third-party geocoding service so we can match you to nearby sales and rank you on the local leaderboard.
- Verified visit data. If you check in to a sale, your device's GPS coordinates at the time of check-in (with your permission) are compared to the sale's address to verify presence. Coordinates are stored alongside the visit record.
Information collected automatically
- Basic request data. IP address, browser type, pages visited, and timestamps — logged by our hosting provider (Vercel) for security, debugging, and abuse prevention.
- Cookies. A single session cookie keeps you signed in after you click a magic-link in your email. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or trackers. We do not use Google Analytics or similar.
3. How we use your information
- Operating the Service (matching sales to subscribers, dispatching emails, and, when listings become paid, processing payments).
- Sending you the messages you opted in to receive (sale alerts, blog newsletter, account magic-links, transactional confirmations).
- Showing your sale listing publicly to nearby buyers.
- Calculating local, regional, and national leaderboard rankings.
- Investigating abuse, fraud, or violations of our Terms.
- Improving the Service — generally in aggregate, anonymous form.
4. Who we share information with
We share data only with the third-party service providers that actually deliver the product. None of them are permitted to use your data for their own marketing.
- Stripe — processes payments for paid sale listings (not used while listings are free during our launch phase). Stripe receives your email and a description of the listing. We never see or store your full card number. See stripe.com/privacy.
- Resend — delivers transactional and newsletter emails. Receives your email address and the message content. See resend.com/legal/privacy-policy.
- Neon — hosts our PostgreSQL database. Your data lives in their US-East infrastructure. See neon.tech/privacy-policy.
- Vercel — hosts the application. Sees request logs and environment data. See vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy.
- Cloudflare — DNS for our domain. Sees the public fact that requests are being routed to saledar.com, not your data itself.
- Open-Meteo — provides 14-day forecasts when you enter a ZIP on the host form. Receives only the resolved latitude and longitude of the ZIP, never your identity.
- zippopotam.us — converts ZIP codes to approximate coordinates. Receives only the 5-digit ZIP, never your identity.
We do not sell personal information. We do not share it with advertisers, data brokers, or analytics companies.
We may disclose information when required by law (subpoena, court order, valid government request) or to protect our rights, the safety of users, or the integrity of the Service.
5. Public information
Sale listings, including the street address you submit, are public by design — that's the entire point of posting a sale. Don't enter information you don't want public in the listing fields. Reviews, ratings, flag reports, and display names are also publicly visible on the Service.
6. Data retention
- Subscription records: kept until you unsubscribe; deleted within 30 days of unsubscribing.
- Sale listings: kept until your end time, then retained in our database for historical/leaderboard purposes. Hosts can request deletion.
- Account records: kept while your account is active. Deleted within 30 days of account closure.
- Payment records (Stripe): retained per Stripe's policy and US tax-record requirements (typically 7 years).
- Logs: rotated within 30 days.
7. Your rights and choices
- Unsubscribe. Every email we send includes both an "Unsubscribe" link and a "Pause or update preferences" link. One click stops alerts.
- Pause. Subscribers can pause alerts for 1 week, 1 month, or 3 months without losing their settings — useful for vacations.
- Access, correct, or delete. Email privacy@saledar.com and we'll respond within 30 days.
- California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, and other state-resident rights. If your state grants you specific rights (access, deletion, correction, opt-out of "sale" — we don't sell — or "sharing"), email privacy@saledar.com. We honor these regardless of where you live.
8. Children
Saledar is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If we learn we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it. If you're a parent and believe your child has provided us information, contact privacy@saledar.com.
9. Security
We use industry-standard practices: HTTPS-only connections, encrypted secrets, OAuth-style magic-link authentication (no passwords stored), and least-privilege database access. No system is perfectly secure. If you suspect a security issue, please report it to security@saledar.com.
10. International users
Saledar is operated in the United States and the Service is intended for users in the United States. If you access Saledar from outside the US, you understand your data will be processed in the US.
11. Changes to this policy
We'll update this page when our practices change. We'll change the "Last updated" date at the top and, for material changes, notify registered users by email at least 14 days before changes take effect.
